Soul Care The Witchy Way

Let’s Talk About Self-Care (The Real Kind)

Self-care has been a hot topic for a while now. Every time I scroll through social media, I see something about it — a post, a quote, a meme, a reminder. Eventually, I started to wonder… maybe the universe was trying to tell me something. Maybe it was time to take self-care seriously — not just as a buzzword, but as a lifestyle shift.

At that time, I was working three jobs, going to school full time, and serving in the Army National Guard. I was running on fumes, totally disconnected, and definitely not grounded. My life was a blur of work, classes, eating when I could, crashing into bed, and waking up to do it all over again. That cycle went on for almost three years — and it nearly broke me.

But like the Energizer Bunny, I just kept going. Because sometimes, you do what you have to do to reach your goals. I don’t regret the grind — but I knew I couldn’t live like that forever.

Now, I’m in a different space. Healing is still a work in progress, but step by step, I’m getting there. Your 20s are a whirlwind of change — people come and go, lessons hit hard, and things that didn’t make sense start to click into place. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned? Don’t let anyone mistake your kindness for weakness. And don’t let anyone else define your worth. Ever.

I’ve also mastered the art of not giving a damn what people think — and let me tell you, that’s a superpower. People will judge. That’s a reflection of them, not you.

So, What Is Self-Care?

When most people hear “self-care,” they think: Let’s go shopping! Get the nails done! Treat yo self! And hey — I’m not knocking that. Looking good can feel empowering. But real self-care goes much deeper than retail therapy.

To me, self-care is about:

  • Taking intentional time for yourself

  • Clearing the mind

  • Cleansing the spirit

  • Rebalancing the body

Our energy matters. Our aura — that electromagnetic field surrounding us — is influenced by how we think, feel, and move through the world. When we’re burnt out, overwhelmed, or emotionally scattered, our energy field becomes chaotic. And that affects our physical body too.

Self-care is about bringing yourself back into alignment. Mind. Body. Spirit. All three.

Understanding Your Energetic Body

We’re not just physical beings — we are energetic beings. Our aura is the vibrational field that surrounds and protects us. It's our energetic immune system, constantly interacting with the world around us. When we feel off, drained, or out of alignment, it's often because something in our energetic body is out of balance.

Think of your energy like layers of light surrounding your body. Each one plays a role in how you think, feel, and connect to yourself and others. Here's a simple breakdown:

🧠 Layer 1: The Mind (Mental Body)

This layer holds your thoughts, beliefs, and self-talk. It’s where anxiety, overthinking, and burnout begin to take root. A cluttered mental field can cloud your judgment and block your intuition.

✨ Self-care for the mind: journaling, quiet time, saying no, positive affirmations, unplugging from social media, guided meditation.

💖 Layer 2: The Spirit (Emotional Body)

This is your heart space. It stores your feelings — the love, the pain, the healing, the joy. Emotional wounds often live here if left unprocessed, and they can echo throughout your energy field.

✨ Self-care for the spirit: breathwork, heart-opening rituals, talking with trusted friends or mentors, crying it out (yes, it's cleansing!), using rose quartz or pink candles.

🔥 Layer 3: The Body (Physical Body)

This is your foundation — your vessel. If your body is neglected, everything else suffers. When your physical body is tired, in pain, or undernourished, your energy gets weighed down.

✨ Self-care for the body: nourishing food, proper rest, movement (even dancing in your kitchen counts), salt baths, stretching, drinking water with intention.

Real Self-Care Is Energy Work

So when we say “self-care,” we’re not just talking about luxury — we’re talking about maintenance of your energetic ecosystem. When your aura is clear and your mind-body-spirit are in harmony, you become magnetic. Your manifestations flow. Your boundaries hold. Your intuition sharpens.

And here’s the truth: Self-care is a spell.
It’s a declaration to the universe that says:

“I am worthy of time, love, and peace — from others and especially from myself.”

How to Rebalance My Energy

A simple ritual for aligning mind, body & spirit

Step 1: Clear the Air

What to do:
Burn herbs or incense to cleanse your space. Good options include:

  • Sage (for clearing)

  • Lavender (for calming)

  • Palo Santo (for uplifting)

  • Bay leaf (for purification + wishes)

Say aloud or whisper:

“I release all stagnant energy. I clear my space, my body, and my mind.”

✨ Bonus: Clap your hands, ring a bell, or use a singing bowl to break up lingering energy.

Step 2: Ground Yourself

What to do:
Stand or sit with both feet flat on the ground. Close your eyes and take three deep breaths. Imagine roots growing from your feet deep into the earth.

Say:

“I am rooted, I am safe, I am supported by the Earth.”

✨ Bonus: Place a grounding crystal (like hematite, black tourmaline, or smoky quartz) in your pocket or on your lap.

Step 3: Check Your Energy Layers

Take a moment to reflect:

Ask Yourself...What to Do

Mind - Am I overthinking? Am I holding on to mental clutter? Journal, affirm, or meditate.

Spirit - How do I feel emotionally? Do I need release or comfort? Cry, laugh, talk to someone, or do breath work.

Body - Am I rested? Am I nourished? Have I moved today? Stretch, drink water, eat something grounding.

✨ Bonus: Place your hand over your heart and say:

“I honor where I am. I am whole.”

Step 4: Cleanse with Water

What to do:
Take a ritual bath or shower. Imagine the water washing away energetic debris.

Add:

  • Epsom salt or sea salt (for purification)

  • Essential oils (like eucalyptus, lavender, or rose)

  • Herbs or flowers (like rosemary, mint, or chamomile)

Say as you rinse off:

“I wash away what does not serve me. I emerge renewed and radiant.”

Step 5: Seal It with Intention

What to do:
Light a candle. Hold it with purpose. Close your eyes and visualize yourself glowing with clean, balanced energy.

Say:

“I am aligned in mind, body, and spirit. I protect my peace and shine from within.”

✨ Bonus: Write down how you feel afterward. Keep a journal of your energy days to track your alignment.

Self-care isn’t selfish — it’s sacred.
The more you pour into yourself, the more you have to offer the world.
You are not meant to just survive — you are here to glow, to grow, and to rest.
So take the bath. Light the candle. Say no. Say yes.
Be your own safe space.
You deserve every moment of peace you create.

Stay soft, stay powerful — and don’t forget to protect your energy.
